 WHAT TO BRING - Our main goal is to help you to R E L A X. We are informal; your comfort is most important. T-shirts and shorts, a swimsuit and cover-up are just about all you need. Introduce your toes to a little fresh air and sunshine. We recommend tennis shoes or runners for hikes, some reef walkers for exploring the reef and the official shoe of the tropics: "flip flops". You are welcomed to "spruce up" a bit for dinner, there is no need for dress jackets, and ties are strictly forbidden. A light windbreaker or sweatshirt sometimes comes in handy. Other than that a friendly smile and a sense of humor about covers it.
MEDICAL - Fiji is fortunate to be unaffected by most tropical diseases including Malaria. We are located just 15 minutes away from Taveuni hospital should anything serious occur. Our capable crew can assist with minor abrasions, and such. COMMUNICATION - While remote in location, Rainbow Reef Resort has direct international telephone service, Fax machine, E-mail, computer access to the Internet, and even our own Web site. POWER AND WATER - We provide power in both 240-50 and 110-60 by means of generators and a solar array. Power in a remote location such as ours, is self generated, and in an effort to minimize environmental impact, our units have been specially designed to assist our guests in conservation, while maintaining comfort. Our water is derived from four sources, 1) artesian well, which is used primarily for toilets, 2) catchment which is ozone treated and filtered, 3) a state of the art distillation (RO) plant for all general water use including drinking, and 4) bottled, should you prefer.
The owners have three children of their own that live on the property and they will be happy to share all the fun stuff!
Fijians make excellent child minders; babysitting can be arranged. Special early dinners for children may also be requested.

BUGS AND SUN - Being a tropical climate we encourage you to protect yourself with sunscreens. There is the occasional mosquito or sand flea, however we are relatively bug free and do take measures to assure your comfort.
CHILDREN - are welcome!
Unlike some resorts, we think families also deserve to experience a wonderful place together. We have plenty of natural activities to enjoy and opportunities for parents to reconnect with their kids. Being a small resort, though, may limit the opportunities for children to get together
with lots of young ones their own age. We welcome the joy, enthusiasm and laughter children bring, but request that they are well mannered and respectful of the privacy and peace others are here to enjoy.
