"SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON" TROPICAL FANTASY TREEHOUSE
(Expected year 2003)

This truly unique and inspired accommodation, patterned after THE famous treehouse, is anticipated in the Year 2003. Swiss Family Robinson ShipwreckThis imaginatively reproduced fantasy house is sited within a grove of majestic raintrees and is guaranteed to fulfill all your childhood castaway fantasies.

The treehouse is constructed of two separate structures connected by a suspension bridge. (A third separate children's structure is to follow.)

Enveloped in a forest, the treehouse is sited thirty feet in the air, with a splendid view of the ocean and beach located a few steps away. The structures are a delightful interpretation of the treehouse made famous in the book "Swiss Family Robinson" by Johann David Wyss.

This is a very personal project by the owner, who has spent over a decade designing and collecting nautical effects and selected antiques worldwide.

Nautical Porthole You enter the main house from an exterior deck, reached by a staircase winding around the trunk of a stately raintree. You have just been transported in time, to the mid-1800s. The Swiss family is away on holiday in New Guinea and has cordially made their home available to you. Their charming home is built and furnished with nautical items salvaged from their shipwreck, personal items and furnishings that were being transported to the new colony, and indigenous materials they found locally. The open floor plan with the octagonal bedroom/sitting room emulates the Captain's quarters. The amenities include a hand carved Queen-sized four poster canopy bed with handmade quilts. An authentic 1886 designed ceiling fan, converted brass ships lanterns, antique period furnishings, handmade Egyptian carpeting, antique leaded and stained glass windows, and period and unusual collectors' items decorate the treehouse throughout.

Upon crossing a suspension bridge, you reach the bathroom. While featuring modern conveniences, it is a whimsical collection of Victorian and native design elements. The large handmade copper shower provides a private rainforest view. All plumbing fixtures are handmade solid brass and Victorian in era. Artifacts from the 19th CenturyProvided are "his and hers" vanities with French Provincial curtains, nautical lighting and a private watercloset, resplendent with a pull chain flush and antique "current" newspaper of the day, circa 1854.

The children's unit will be a child-sized structure featuring double-decker beds, portholes, ship's ladders, and even a crow's nest look out! Unit will include toys and costumes, an antique reproduction dive helmet, authentic clipper ships wheel, rope swings, slide pole and cargo nets to climb. Designed to inspire the imagination of your young castaways. Ideal ages: 6-12. Expected completion date: 2003.

The children's section is separate and detached and will not interfere with the honeymoon ambiance of the main unit.
